As it turns out, Super Tuesday is on Feb 5th, just 2 days after the upcoming Super Bowl. This has some speculating that our presidential candidates might jump in the game with a Super Bowl ad. The article has someone from McCain’s camp saying that the football audience is "a very ripe and timely target."
A quick look at the OpenSecrets site reveals that Clinton and Obama may be the only candidates with enough cash on hand to actually pull this off.
If they do, I hope they rethink the typical political ad and try something that is more “appropriate” for this setting. At first glance, this may seem like it has the potential for a very expensive mistake, but this could also be an opportunity for a candidate to show us a different side and create something memorable like Bill Clinton playing the sax on the Arsenio Hall show.
